The McCharmlys "You'll Be Fine / Break My Heart" 45
"McCharmly Mania" originates in sunny Santa Ana, Calif., where the quartet has taken the SoCal scene by storm with their stylish blend of doo-wop, surf, beat & 60s style rock ‘n’ soul.
LA Weekly called the band “an absolute joy” as they “recall sounds from past while adding a contemporary edge that is attractive to punk, new wave and rockabilly fans". UK-based Vintage Rock Magazine praised the band's "melodies drenched in sunshine, and lush harmonies laced with sweetness and sadness."
Taking their name from an obscure Beatles interview, the band was assembled by band leader & primary songwriter Angie Monroy in 2018, carefully selecting key players from the Santa Ana/ Los Angeles scene. Monroy writes every day, applying influence ranging from The Ramones, Roy Orbison & The Beach Boys. The band’s lush, layered harmonies & instrumentation has captured hearts internationally on stage with Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, The Sonics, Nick Waterhouse, The Surfrajettes, The Charities & more.
In summer 2024, The McCharmlys entered Daptone Records' west-coast satellite Penrose Studios to record a brand new 45 with producer Anthony Masino (Thee Sacred Souls, The Charities). The result was "You'll Be Fine / Break My Heart" - in stores January 17, 2025 from buzzing rock 'n' soul label Nu-Tone, a division of Hi-Tide Recordings. Catch the band on their USA headlining tour beginning February 16 at The Observatory in Santa Ana.
