Exotica Moderne #14

Sorry, this item has sold.

Exotica Moderne is a quarterly publication showcasing the new tiki and lowbrow art and artists, exotic cocktails, kustom kulture, music and more. Focusing on where these genres have been and where they are heading, Exotica Moderne features emerging artists as well as those spearheading these movements. Where all of these subcultures meet and intersect, Exotica Moderne covers next wave of tiki and lowbrow art.

From the publisher:

Issue 14 of Exotica Moderne starts off with an interview by “Tiki with Ray” Wyland with Heather and Ken Pleasant of Witco Decor as they discuss the family lineage and future of all that is Witco!

What did the venerable Tiki Ti do in their downtime due to the ongoing pandemic? John Markovich gives us a glimpse of the newly remodeled bar we all want a seat at as he assists the Buhens and Anders Anderson putting a new shine on an old haunt.

Jayme Lynn Blaschke visits Hugman’s Oasis in San Antonio, Texas, situated along their famous River walk, while Jay Mize, with Darin and Tina DeRita, offer up a look at the also revamped Tiki Tom’s in Walnut Creek, California.

Not sure what to wear to your next Tiki event or visit to your favorite Tiki bar? We talk with Margo Scott of Rocket Betty Designs about her beautiful line of Aloha resort wear and how she started creating her fabulous designs.

Kevin Crossman once again gives us an in-depth look at the Disco Banana cocktail, created by Jeanie Grant.

Dave Bagdade pops in on The Golden Tiki, while Monica Sy takes us on a worldwide tour of Atlanta’s southern Tiki hospitality.

And to add to this issue’s theme of visiting exotic bars and locales, Tiki Lindy visits Venezuela and shows us how to whip up some local faire along with a tasty dessert and the national rum-based cocktail of Venezuela.

Justin Cristaldi hangs out with Adam Demarath to discuss going around the US in 80 days to hit 80 Tiki bars and Tom Duncan goes to the Tiki market at South Bay Plaza’s Wicky Wacky Hawaiian Days Sale circa 1967.

Plus we'll have our usual music reviews, cocktail recipes and more!
